SfH had a fantastic time at Housing 2024 engaging with colleagues across the housing sector to explore collaborative approaches for delivering high-quality, accessible, affordable, and sustainable housing throughout the UK.
Our chair, Brendan Sarsfield, joined a panel with Jo Shields from whg, Rachel McGoff from The Guinness Partnership, Stephen Henesy from Helpthemove and Luke Cross from Social to discuss how ESG can help deliver better outcomes for housing providers and their tenants.
In attendance at the event were Brendan Sarsfield and Andy Smith, below were their reflections and thoughts:
Brendan shared:
“On the panel, it was good to hear about the continued importance of the SRS to landlords -financially, strategically and operationally. The audience also seemed keen, with interest afterwards from local authorities and suppliers to the sector. So, there is a lot for us to build on.
From the conference, I think everyone is waiting for the political uncertainty to be removed. No one is expecting lots of new cash from a new government but perhaps a greater focus on the issues facing social housing and those who need it.
SfH will have to monitor how these changes meet the expectations of all stakeholders and how it can help with communication.”
Andy shared:
“One interesting comment I heard from an investor panel was the hope/optimism that the new Government would provide the stability that the country needs to attract more inward investment.”
